The simplest imaginable budget plan is to PAY YOURSELF FIRST. If you set aside money from each of your paychecks for saving and investment BEFORE paying anything else, you force yourself to live on the remainder and you'll know how much you can spend for other purposes.
- Decide on a percentage or dollar amount to put toward saving and investment. Set that amount at a level you know will work for you
- Put the money aside every payday no matter what, regular as clockwork.
- DO NOT dip into the funds you've paid yourself for day to day purchases or consumer items.
- Happily spend the rest of your paycheck however you see fit.
